If you’ve visited the neighborhood of Historic Kenwood, you’ve likely felt an instant, warm welcome by its residents. Located West of Downtown St. Petersburg, Kenwood is an active, vibrant community known for its craftsman-style homes, diverse population and appreciation for the arts. Historic Kenwood can be recognized by its brick streets, mature trees and vintage architecture.
Kenwood is one of the most historic neighborhoods in the city of St. Petersburg, with a high concentration of 1920’s Craftsman-style bungalow homes that feature original hardwood floors, brick fireplaces and large windows. The neighborhood’s rich history dates back to 1912 when a man named Charles R. Hall bought 10 houses along Central Avenue which, at the time, were near an avocado grove. It is now part of the National Registry of Historic Places and, as a result, many of the homes have maintained their integrity and original structures.
