Corporate Corner

Dear RE/MAX Affiliates,

As many of you are aware, news about "Project Upstream" broke on several industry media outlets this morning. Tomorrow, the NAR governing board will consider a proposal to contract NAR's Realtors Property Resource (RPR) as Upstream's technology partner, bringing us one step closer to a national real estate database owned and operated by brokers that will allow them to control the distribution and display of their listings.

UpstreamRE, LLC is an incredibly important and positive development, and with today's news we're now able to talk more openly about how involved RE/MAX has been since the project's beginning.

RE/MAX was part of the group that founded and initially designed Upstream, and we've contributed a lot of time and money to the project. We've played a major leadership role in guiding the initiative to the point it's reached today.

Our support for the project is as strong as ever. We're pleased with the progress made thus far, and confident that Upstream will be a huge benefit to brokers and agents throughout the industry. Data will be entered only once, offering significant efficiencies in labor, systems and costs. Upstream will control where data is sent and how it is displayed, giving brokers greater say in how their listings are displayed on the portals.

Moving forward, we'll be able to disclose more Upstream details and updates than we have in the past. For now, I just wanted you to know that we're very involved and very much in favor of this ground-breaking initiative.
