Agent Spotlight -Mathew Shankweiler
We are so happy to spotlight Mathew Shankweiler this month. We chose Mathew this month for his service to our country. After 9/11, he immediately joined the US Army with the 25th Infantry Division based in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. His passion for protecting our country took him to all the way to Afghanistan, where he spent the entire year of 2004 on the front lines of the War on Terror in a remote province bordering Pakistan. Later, in 2008 and 2009, Mathew served the US Embassy as a Liaison with the Afghan Minister of Finance as well as the Afghan Border Police helping to focus international aid towards a comprehensive border protection strategy. Afterwards, Mathew took off to Thailand to escape for a while and wound up running an offshore sailing school. There he met his wife and lived exceptionally well for 3 years. In 2013, Mathew joined RE/MAX Metro. His move to Metro from a neighboring agency was for “the resources Metro provides” and the growth potential for his business. For this month when Americans celebrate the Fourth of July, it was our pleasure, here at Metro Times, to highlight Mathew.
“Independence Day is a day of celebration of our incredible freedoms and this time gives us an opportunity to reflect. We have something that is so incredibly special, yet this human right is something that billions of people around the world simply don’t have. Celebrate by honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in order to protect that gift, YOUR FREEDOM!”
