The Club at Longboat Key

The Resort at Longboat Key

A bit of heaven on the West Coast of Central Florida is available to all of us.

Yes, as many things beautiful and upscale, for a price.

The Longboat Key Club offers 291 storm-protected boat slips for deep water crafts up to 150 feet in length, two pools, a spa, its own beach on the Gulf of Mexico, cabana /pool food and beverage service, and a fleet of vehicles to take you to Sarasota or (The Old Salty Dog), St Armand’s Circle or the Mote Marine

All worthy places to blog about, but today it’s Longboat Key Club.

Access this resort by boat (from St Pete), under the Skyway Bridge, past Fort De Soto Park to your starboard, and a port turn past Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key Pass into Sarasota Bay and the Club, on the west barrier island group that is Longboat

By car from St Pete, go south on 275 over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, west on SR 64 to Anna Maria Island (a heavenly place I’ll share another day), take the 12-mile stunning drive past Bradenton, Coquina and Manatee Beaches with their shocking white beaches fronting the Gulf of Mexico and south to Longboat. If you’re in the mood for a waterfront dive, the Gulf Drive Cafe right on the Gulf will be to your liking.

Once you’re in the resort, on your boat or in their beautiful waterfront condos, leave the driving to them.

Call the Yacht Club and they’ll have a driver waiting to take you and your family to the pool and beach if you’re staying on the floating condo. They’ll arrange a private cabana on the Gulf for your, or set you up in chaise lounges with umbrellas for shade, a hot tub, pool the same temperature year round, and full bar and food service with excellent food and swift bar service.

Then just relax and savor Florida’s west coast with all the trimmings. Watch the sunset from your waterfront balcony or float in the pool next to the marina as the sun fades into night. Portofino serves Northern Italian cuisine to locals and guests, or take a ride to St Armand’s for a host of food choices.

Turn off your phone. Leave the laptop somewhere you can’t find it.

Spoil yourself once in a while.

That’s why we work so hard, right

This place is worth the expense!
