Have you ever heard of such companies as Airbnb, SlideShare, and RelayRides? They are companies that provide access to goods or services to consumers without providing individual ownership of said goods or services. It is a community driven subculture helping to reinvent today's global economy.
Here in Tampa Bay, the app based ride sharing options Uber and Lyft are very popular. It's a great way to earn some additional income for drivers, keep riders safe, and provide choices for transportation throughout our city. Uber and Lyft drivers have to pass an extensive background check through the application process, but they are essentially their own boss. They make their own hours, maintain their vehicles, and split the fares with the companies. However, there has been pushback from medallion holding taxi drivers, as their income is suffering.
